Horng works for WLS as a general assignment reporter. He joined ABC 7 Eyewitness News team in August 2010. Since joining the station, he has been an essential part of the Eyewitness News broadcast of many stories counting the 2013 Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup playoff run.
Second, the historic 2011 Chicago blizzard, and the November 2013 tornado that devastated Washington, Illinois. Third, the Chicago Cubs’ 2016 World Series championship. Last but not least, the unforgettable 2011 Chicago blizzard.
Further, in 2015 he partook in the station’s Emmy Award-winning broadcast of two big stories i.e. the demise of Fox Lake police lieutenant, Joe Gliniewicz and the issue of video of the police connected to the shooting of Laquan McDonald.
Prior to WLS, he was an ABC News correspondent for “World News,” “Nightline,” and “Good Morning America.” Also, he served as an occasional fill-in anchor for “World News Now” and “America This Morning,” the early morning programs. He brought his expertise gained from serving as an ABC News correspondent to ABC 7 Chicago. He joined ABC News in 2003.
In his time with ABC News, he broadcasted many big stories counting Terri Schiavo’s legal battle in Florida, the Michael Jackson criminal lawsuit in California, the 2007 Minneapolis bridge collapse, and the 2008 Northern Illinois University shooting.
Moreover, in 2015 he presented live reports from Louisiana throughout and after Hurricane Katrina impacted the mainland. To boot, in 2008 on election night, he presented reports from Chicago’s Grant Park which was the site of President Obama’s victory address.
Prior to serving ABC News, he served CNN as a correspondent. Else, he was posted in Atlanta from since1998 to 2000 and Los Angeles from 2000 to 2003. While at CNN, he broadcasted various eminent stories counting the Elizabeth Smart abduction case, the Shuttle Columbia catastrophe, the Elian Gonzalez litigation, and the Academy Awards. Else, he is an ardent Chicago sports fan.
