Kim Stephens Education
Kim schooled at St. Raphael’s from 2-8th grade and then Marin Catholic High, San Rafael – just north of San Francisco. She then graduated in 1988 with a telecommunications degree from Chico State. In addition, she has a master’s degree in broadcast management from The University of Tennessee.
Kim Stephens Career
Stephen’s career began in 1988 with her first job in Bakersfield at KERO. She started as the morning anchor/reporter before being promoted to weekend anchor/producer. Stephens worked her way up and later became the weeknight anchor/reporter. She did all this while working as a waitress during the day.
Kim later joined WBIR and WVLT in Knoxville, Tennessee in the southeast where she worked as the main nighttime anchor. She returned back home to California in 2000 where she worked in San Jose as a technology and business reporter, and weekend news anchor at KNTV. In addition, she was the mastermind behind the brand new weekly news and entertainment program, Great Day on KMPH.
Kim is a member of the Board of Governors for the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences which is best known for its TV News Emmy Awards. In her career, she has managed to get one Emmy and three Emmy nominations. In addition, she was awarded The Governors’ Service Medallion in 2017 for her volunteer work through NATAS, and Governors’ Citation in 2018. She has also managed to get several other awards including KMPH’s Employee of the Year in 2004, Miss Congeniality in 2010, and the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.
