Torres started his career at KWHY-TV in Los Angeles, California as a weekend anchor. He later worked as a co-host for KCOP-TV’s community affairs show, “In Studio,” in Los Angeles for 3 seasons. Monty was the L.A. bureau chief of the Philippine News and worked for KMIR-TV in Palm Springs, California as an anchor and reporter.

Torres joined the NBC team in 2000 as the new morning show anchor for their station in Raleigh, North Carolina. Furthermore, he was also the morning show anchor/reporter for WNCN, Monty.
