He is an expert meteorologist who is proficient in forecasting Chicago weather with the help of Live Doppler 7 Max. The Live Doppler 7 Max is a powerful new, state-of-the-art tool and a unique radar(S-band, dual pole) built for a commercial station in the U.S.
Also, he is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) with the American Meteorological Society. The certification was issued in September 2006. In addition, Mowry’s regarded as one of the best drastic weather broadcast meteorologists in the nation. Additionally, he covered on-air numerous tornado alerts and showed countless tornadoes live on-air throughout his time in Dallas.
Prior to WLS, he served, the CBS station in Dallas, Texas, KTVT-TV as the Chief Meteorologist for the station’s 5, 6, and 10 p.m. weekday newscasts since 2008. From 2005 to 2008, he served the CBS station in Orlando, Florida, WKMG-TV as the morning meteorologist. Before this, he served WLS in 2004.
In 2017, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Chicago/Midwest Chapter honored him with an Emmy Award for “Outstanding On Camera Talent – Weather Anchor.” Throughout his career, he has secured ten Lonestar Emmy Awards counting five for Best Weathercaster in the state of Texas.
