Mbele began working for the South African Broadcasting Corporation in 1999, becoming a presenter on News at Ten. In 2007, Mbele joined CNBC Africa when he was inducted as one of the channel’s top corporate presenters. During his time at CNBC, he hosted regular shows on the channel and covered many other corporate events such as the World Economic Forum.

Mbele joined BBC News in 2012 to help launch and present Newsday on the BBC World Service with Lawrence Pollard. Both presented from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 30:00 (UK time) every weekday. She is now the presenter of Talking Business Africa, a lifestyle-driven business program that focuses on exceptional entrepreneurs and their entrepreneurship in the boardroom and in business, which Mbele explores with them through hands-on experiences. She was also a long-time presenter of the Africa Business Report, a weekly program that provides analysis on various sectors of the economy in African countries. It also included
prominent businessmen from the African continent. Mbele’s interviews also appear in BBC World News and World Business Report.  In 2014, Mbele was named Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in Switzerland in this year’s selection group.
