Curtis began his professional journey in the field working as a broadcaster at WRUF in Florida and at WUFT-TV in Gainesville, Florida. Then, he became a journalist at  WCJB-TV in Ocala, Florida where he did research and reported stories. Next, he moved to WEAR-TV 3 in Pensacola, Florida and got a role as a journalist. He also served as a legislative aide at the offices of Rep. Charles Schumer and Sen. Herb Kohl for about 1 year.

From there, Mark got a job with Cox Media Group in San Francisco, California as a chief Washington, D.C correspondent and morning news co-anchor which lasted for about 6 years. After that, he got a role as a freelance reporter and political analyst at KTVU  and as a host for Comcast Newsmakers. Next, he became a weekend evening news anchor and chief political reporter at WLNE-TV ABC6 in Providence, Rhode Island. He also served as a a substitute host for ABC6 News On the Record and as a correspondent for Citadel Communications.

Later, Curtis joined the West Virginia Media Holdings team as a chief political reporter. He also serves as a reporter at WTRF-TV in Wheeling, WVNS-TV in Bluefield and at WBOY-TV in Clarksburg. Additionally, he published his first book Age of Obama in 2009 and has received many awards such as an International Book Award, 13 Emmys, a Murrow, and 2 AP awards. Moreover, he has covered great news stories such as the 1987 World Series and Senator John McCain’s funeral. Plus, he is an avid fun of playing golf and working on the garden.
