Nina Hossain Career
Hossain was chosen to intern at ITV Border on Lookaround where she worked as a presenter, producer and journalist. In 2000 she served as a presenter for The Medical Channel. 2001 she moved up to being a presenter and reporter for Newsroom South East and BBC London News on BBC London. March 2004 she became the show’s main presenter while Emily Maitlis was on maternity leave.
She hosted the first series of Hard Spell. Hossain reprized the role in a single episode of spin-off Star Spell (similar to Hard Spell but with celebrities instead of children) but when Star Spell became a full series she moved to ITV and was featured by BBC Replaced presenter Mishal Husain who continued the role for the second season of Hard Spell.
In November 2004, Hossain moved to ITN from ITV as senior presenter of ITV Evening News while Mary Nightingale was pregnant. Upon her return, Nightingale was an assistant presenter for ITV London (ITV News London) and ITV News.
In April 2010 she was also a guest star on for GMTV, replacing Lorraine Kelly with Lorraine on GMTV. In June 2010, she replaced Katie Derham as the presenter of London Tonight, initially alongside Donal MacIntyre. She also presented ITV Lunchtime News in a starring role with Alastair Stewart. Hossain was part of ITV’s live election coverage of the 2015, 2017 and 2019 elections.
