Wood started his career in journalism as a weekend sports anchor at the NBC affiliate in Reno. In addition, he was also the general assignment news reporter and news anchor. Wood has been on air for more than four decades making him the longest-serving sportscaster in Fresno. He worked for KJEO TV, the CBS affiliate in Fresno as a weekend sports anchor and reporter before joining KMPH. Here, he covered a news story for KJEO in 1985 and therefore promoted to a reporter in the CBS network mini-series, “Fresno”.This was aired in November 1986.
Ralph joined KMPH TV as a sports director and nightly sports anchor. He is live on air at FOX 26 Ten O’Clock News and enjoys broadcasting news to his community. He participated in telecasts of Fresno State football and basketball as a studio host and color commentator at KMPH. Ralph also broadcasted the voice of the Bulldogs as a play-by-play announcer.
Ralph aired the Bulldog football at the Las Vegas Bowl and the Freedom Bowl in Anaheim. In addition, he also covered the loha Bowl in Honolulu and also aired Fresno State’s five appearances in the California Bowl. Wood assisted the Fresno State basketball team’s trip to the NIT in New York. He has also promoted the Bulldogs’ appearances in post-season conference tournaments and along with the NCAA tournament.
