She first started working at KCR radio as a radio host. After 5 months, she was a staff writer at Daily Aztec for a month or so at San Diego State University. Also worked as a freelance writer at San Diego Voice and Viewpoint where she covered issues concerning the San Diego community. Raquel worked as a student communication assistant at San Diego State University from 2013-2014.
Further, she was the representative of the College of Professional Studies for the Associated Student body for about 1 year. She represented issues facing professional studies and fine arts students at San Diego State Univers. Thereafter, she interned at NBC San Diego as a news intern.
