Spangler had spent six years covering Sports. This was from 2012-2018 and is now returning home and moving to the news desk. He will also be reporting in the field during the week. Sam has always had a passion to serve the community which has given him so much and enabled him to grow into a man. According to him, this is by keeping the public informed. Spangler didn’t just cover athletes but was also one himself.
Sam is a proud graduate of The University of Hawaii at Manoa and a former WAC champion. He was a pitcher in the Minnesota Twins organization from 2010-2011 after he was selected twice in the Major League Baseball draft. Spangler cant forget covering the 2012 Hawaii High School Athletic Association football state championship.
He says, “The pride shown in the communities of Kahuku and Punahou, as well as the respect displayed between the two, was awe-inspiring.” Sam is an Interdisciplinary Studies major and former Spectrum Sports color analyst. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife Chassis and son Raymond.
