He has worked in television news for almost twenty-five years, ten of those years were spent at KRDO News Channel 13. He has worked as a sports anchor and reporter, a photographer, an editor, and a producer over the years. The job has become considerably more demanding over his career. Stations are expanding their lineups with new shows along with taking on more radio and online duties. After graduating from the University of Missouri School of Journalism, his profession as a TV news reporter is much more demanding and stressful than it was before.
Harrison started his career at Tupelo, Mississippi’s WTVA. The city is well-known for being the first to build concrete highways and for being the birthplace of Elvis Presley. He next traveled to Grand Rapids, Michigan, which is the second-biggest city in the state, to visit WOOD-TV. After a two-year hiatus, he returned to the news scene in 2005, this time at WLOX-TV in Biloxi, Mississippi, which at the time was home to a thriving casino business before Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast. He reported on other hurricanes, although they were all far less than Katrina. He likes the seafood, sweet tea, and mild winters, but he sure as hell doesn’t miss the humidity!
Harrison’s next position was in Mobile, Alabama, at WKRG-TV. Mardi Gras is said to have originated in Mobile before moving to New Orleans. The state borders of Florida and Mississippi are less than an hour’s drive from the city. After Mobile, he took a two-year hiatus from the industry once again until he received a call from KRDO NewsChannel 13. Life in Colorado Springs has been enjoyable for him. He developed a strong desire to move to Colorado after visiting his relatives in Denver when he was a little boy. He’s hoping Colorado will be his forever home.
