Tearsa is an American journalist working as a morning news anchor at WATE 6 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She began her journalism career in Miami, Florida, in 1996. In 1999, she joined WTVJ-TV in Miami, Florida, where she served as an Associate Producer. Tearsa subsequently joined WNBC-TV in New York, NY as a Field Producer. Before coming to WATE 6, she worked as a reporter at WKAG-TV, Hopkinsville, KY.
Tearsa likes the thought of assisting someone in getting their day started. Since she’s always been an early riser, she hopes that some of the content she contributes to Good Morning Tennessee will help someone wake up feeling energized, knowledgeable, and prepared to face the day.
Tearsa was honored with the Clarksville/Montgomery County School System’s 2002 Point of Pride Award for Excellence in Education Reporting. In the MidSouth chapter’s Magazine Series category, she was nominated for 6 Around Town and won the 2013 Golden Press Card Award from the East Tennessee Society of Professional Journalists. Tearsa also serves on the Wesley House Community Center’s board. In addition, she participates actively in the Knoxville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
