Trey was a member of the House of Representatives for South Carolina’s 4th Congressional District where he chaired the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.  Further, he served on the Intelligence and Ethics committees as well. Additionally, he worked on the Judiciary Committee as the Chairman representing Crime, Homeland Security, and Investigations as well as Terrorism.

He actively participated in the Benghazi and Russias investigations, which are two of the most significant congressional investigations in the last decade. Gowdy is a well-experienced trial lawyer and formerly worked as a  state and federal prosecutor. He earned his JD from the University of South Carolina after graduating from Baylor University.
