Robach began her career in 1995 at WCBD-TV. Robach then left the station for WTTG in Washington in 1999 before moving to MSNBC in 2003, where she spent four years, including hosting Two AM and hosting Weekend Today, Countdown with Keith Olbermann and Morgen Joe. She was named co-host of Weekend Today in July 2012. Her last day at Weekend Today was May 19, 2012, when she announced she was moving to ABC News. Robach made his debut as a correspondent on ABC’s Good Morning America.
In March 2020, Robach began hosting ABC’s Pandemic: What You Need to Know, a daytime show initially focused on the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, which aired in place of Strahan, Sara, and Keke. The show later indefinitely replaced Strahan, Sara, and Keke as GMA3: What You Need to Know, with Robach continuing as a presenter. After it was revealed that she and her co-host who was also married, TJ Holmes were having an affair, Amy was released from GMA3 in December 2022.

Robach announced that she was ill on Good Morning America, on November 11, 2013. Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer after receiving a live televised mammogram on October 1, 2013, and undergoing tests. She went on hiatus to have a bilateral mastectomy. On November 22, 2013, Robach announced that doctors had discovered a second malignant tumor in her other breast during surgery and the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes (classified as Stage IIB). She then underwent eight cycles of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and reconstructive surgery. In March 2022, Robach was cancer-free.
