Zee appeared as a guest meteorologist on the Today Show on weekends, which led to her achieving her goal in high school. Zee is also an AMS-certified radio meteorologist.

In an interview with Narcolepsy 360, she confessed, “I still didn’t know I was [falling asleep] until I was in three different car accidents. I started smoking in the closet. I tried my best not to fall asleep while driving because I was very afraid of hurting myself and others in the car.” A sleep study conducted at age 21 revealed she suffered from narcolepsy, and she says the diagnosis marked the beginning of her journey.
