She came to Bakersfield in 2011 and she has been happy to call the Kern County home ever since. She grew up in the Dominican Republic and relocated to New Jersey when she was 16 years old.
Candy served as an intern for Telemundo 47, the network’s New York affiliate while attending City State University. She was able to secure her first employment in the field thanks to this opportunity. Moving to California in 2002, Candy was hired as a general assignment reporter at KRCA Estrella TV in Los Angeles. She reported on breaking news and high-profile stories at KRCA, such as immigration, fires, and crimes. She showed a knack for writing investigative reports as well.
Since moving to Bakersfield Candy has shown her commitment to the community by attending activities for the community and charities regularly. She has also competed in several state and national pageants on behalf of Bakersfield, taking home the state championship in 2021 and 2023. During her free time, she repairs old furniture, hikes, and plays tennis.
