Chris started his career in Memphis as a weather assistant for WMC-TV. He later became the morning meteorologist for WBRC-TV in Birmingham in 1987. However, he moved to WLWT-TV in Cincinnati after one year. Chris discovered the central Indiana television period as part of the initial FOX-59 broadcasting group on WXIN-TV in 1991. However, he shifted in 1995 and joined the KOVR-TV team in Sacramento, California, although he later returned to Indianapolis back in the year 1996. Therefore, Chris was declared the pioneer African-American meteorologist in these cities.
Chris joined KOVR-TV as a chief meteorologist for one year and later worked at WISH-TV for 3 years. However, he shifted to WTHR-TV from 1999-2013 where he anchored “SkyTrak Weather” on Eyewitness News weeknights at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m.Also, Wright also prepared forecasts for the weather page in the Indianapolis Star and the Eyewitness News website at WTHR.com. He also hosted “The Brain Game,” a high school quiz show promoting the values and benefits of a solid education.

Further, Chris worked at WXIA-TV as a freelance meteorologist where he served as the noon and weekend evening meteorologist. Additionally, he served as the weekend morning meteorologist at WKYC-TV and also at WXYZ-TV. However, he shifted to WCPO-TV as a freelance meteorologist in 2014 prior to joining WTTV-TV as a chief meteorologist. He currently anchors WTTV-4 weather, weeknights at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. and prepares forecasts for the weather page in the Indianapolis Star and at WTTV.com. using the WSI Trueview MAX graphics system.
He has a seal of approval from the National Weather Association. Besides he was the first African American in the nation to be designated a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) by the American Meteorological Society in 2005. Also, he won the best Weather Operation Award as Chief Meteorologist WTHR-TV in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013 by the Indiana Associated Press.
