He also runs an oncology practice to apply his team’s research to the patients he cares for. At Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, he was an MD in the Department of Clinical Oncology and Director of the Cancer Biology Laboratory. He was also an assistant professor of medicine at Cornell University Medical Center. Formerly, Agus was the director of the Louis Warschaw Prostate Cancer Center and an attending physician at the School of Medicine, Department of Medical Oncology, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. He also proudly served as an associate professor of medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

He is currently a Professor of Medicine and Engineering at USC Keck School of Medicine and USC Viterbi School of Engineering, and Executive Director and Founder of the Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine. Agus chairs the Global Agenda Council (GAC) on Genetics at the World Economic Forum and is a regular speaker at TEDMED, the Aspen Ideas Festival, and the World Economic Forum. David’s research focused on the use of cancer modeling technology and new cancer treatments. He has published numerous scientific articles. Dr. David joined CBS News and became a contributor in 2013 and appears regularly on CBS This Morning and other CBS News platforms.

Los Angeles Times reported that “at least 95 separate passages” were plagiarized. This was in Agus’ book entitled  The Book of Animal Secrets with Nature’s Lessons for a Long and Happy Life. The word choice was found to be identical in some instances to that in existing sources. The book was to be released immediately by Simon and Schuster. However, this was postponed after the article’s publication until the sections in question could be rewritten. Therefore,  Agus ensured that he gave a public apology.
