Hartley attended and graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. She used to be on the swimming team as an NCAA athlete and graduated in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in communication and a minor in political science.
After graduating, she first worked as a Multimedia Journalist and later became an anchor and producer of the morning and noon weekday newscasts at KKCO/KJCT in Grand Junction, Colo. She covered a diversity of local and national stories e.g. protests of the 2019 impeachment of President Trump etc. In addition to this, she won an award for “Best Small Market News Anchor” in the 2020 Colorado Broadcasters Association awards.
