Emmy award/ Edward R. Murrow award winning Brian Mastre is an American reporting working at WOWT on weekdays at 6 & 10 News. His special projects and documentaries as well as in-depth reports are aired throughout the year. He joined WOWT team in 1997.

Prior to joining WOWT Mastre worked for KIMT-TV as an anchor and executive producer between the years of 1991 and 1997. He worked for the station for 6 years and later joined WOWT in 1997. He has now been working for the station for 25 years as of 2022 working as a reporter and anchor at 6 and 10 on weekdays. In 2001, he got the national Edward R. Murrow Award for his article on an aging softball team in South Omaha. Additionally, in 2016 he got the Radio-TV News Directors Association Edward R. Murrow award for his story on Memorial Little League in Omaha trying to reclaim inner-city baseball this being his 6th regional Murrow award in categories varying from Investigative to Writing, Series to Sports.

On top of that, he has awards like; Heartland Emmy Award which he gained in 2016 for a film analyzing the sanctioned battle between Nebraska and Colorado’s recreational marijuana laws and a Heartland Emmy Award which he received in 2017 for a factual film examining the positives and negatives on the looming vote on the capital punishment in Nebraska.
