She then served as an intern for CBS 6 in Richmond, Virginia, working at the Assignment Desk, going on field assignments, and writing and editing on-air items.
After that, Markie was hired as a Press Advance Staffer by Romney who was running for presidency at the time. She spent six months traveling over the campaign trail, mostly assisting Romney with media logistics. Markie assisted in setting up numerous financial and political events for Congressman Paul Ryan and Governor Romney. She managed all aspects of the local and national media as a Press Advance employee, including their movements and the exact content that they reported on during political events.
In June 2013, Markie joined KTEN News as the weekend evening anchor and weekday reporter in Sherman/Denison, Texas. While there she wrote, edited, and produced all of her own shows. After that, she moved to KOCO 5 in Oklahoma City, where she began as the weekend morning news anchor before being swiftly elevated to the position of morning anchor. In addition to running the show from 4:30 a.m. until 10 a.m., she was in charge of developing a close-knit network of sources, frequently updating social media, and writing in-depth business pieces for the station.
