Sherman is an American journalist working at Newsnation as a National correspondent based in Austin Texas. He was one of the first American cable news correspondents to cover the war in Ukraine. Sherman captured the terror and anxiety Ukrainians felt as they made frantic attempts to escape the conflict zone in his reports from areas that were later destroyed by Russian military forces. Sherman began his career in broadcasting doing play-by-play for the Kenosha Kingfish, a Northwoods League semi-pro baseball team, in Wisconsin.
After two years in Wisconsin, Robert moved to Houston Texas, where he was hired as an intern for KPRC. While there he helped with both local and national election coverage. Additionally, during the summer of 2017, he interned at CNBC on the show “Mad Money with Jim Cramer.” Sherman also served as the president of Sigma Chi Fraternity at DePauw University. After graduating, Robert moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where he was hired as a reporter for WIAT (CBS 42). While there, he received the “Best General Assignment Report” award from the Alabama Broadcaster’s Association in 2020.
After that, he joined The FOX News Channel in Orlando, Florida. There he covered some of the biggest stories in the country, such as the trial of Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin, the Virginia gubernatorial race in 2021, the Georgia Senate runoffs in 2021, the search for Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie, the Dixie wildfire in California, and Hurricanes Ida, Laura, Sally, and Delta. He spent two years at FOX News Channel before joining NewsNation in January 2022.
