She began her broadcasting career at Annenberg TV News in Los Angeles, California, where she worked as a news anchor, reporter, and Executive producer for three years and five months.
After that, she joined WMTV/NBC 15 News in Madison Wisconsin. She worked as a multimedia journalist, covering a wide range of stories, including the COVID-19 outbreak and the turmoil following George Floyd’s death. During the Black Lives Matter rallies, Sanika and her team won an Emmy, an Edward R. Murrow award, and accolades from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.
