Wes Hohenstein is an American journalist working as the Chief Meteorologist at WNCN/CBS 17 News in Raleigh, North Carolina. He has been working with the network since September 2006. Previously, he worked as the morning meteorologist at KPRC-TV in Houston, Texas. Before that, he was employed as a morning meteorologist at KTVX-TV in Greater Salt Lake City. He also worked in the same capacity at KLFY-TV 10 in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Wes is an American journalist working as the Chief Meteorologist at WNCN/CBS 17 News in Raleigh. You can watch him provide live newscasts every weeknight at 5, 6, and 11 p.m., alongside anchors, Angela Taylor, Russ Bowen, and Jeff Jones. He has covered the most significant meteorological disasters this state has ever seen from the tornado outbreak in April 2011 to innumerable hurricanes and winter storm. Wes began his career in broadcast meteorology with an eighth-grade earth science weather project.

Following his graduation, Wes was hired as a weekend meteorologist at KLFY-TV 10, the CBS station in Lafayette, Louisiana. After that, he moved to KTVX-TV in Salt Lake City, where he worked as a morning meteorologist for two years. He then moved to Houston Texas and landed a job at KPRC-TV as a morning meteorologist a position he held for three years before moving to Raleigh in 2006.

Not only does Wes give a daily TV forecast, but throughout the years he has visited hundreds of schools to impart his meteorological expertise and television stories to youngsters in North Carolina. Most importantly, he takes great pride in the daily 3° Guarantee, which pays $100 to a pre-selected charity each time the forecast is accurate within three degrees. Since 2014, over $200,000 has been donated to almost 100 different local charity.

In addition to receiving an Emmy for his weather knowledge and goofy antics in the “Weather Facts” commercial series, Wes is the recipient of the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval and an Associated Press award for best weathercast. Additionally, Wes is an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team since he was raised in St. Louis. Although he has a strong interest in college basketball, he won’t openly support any Triangle squad. His interests include exploring the Tar Heel state from the mountains to the coast, skiing in the winter, and golfing in the summer.
