Kunz works as a Statehouse Reporter and an anchor at WCIA in Springfield, Illinois area. She anchors the 6, 9, and 10 p.m. newscasts as well as special events. During the pandemic, she developed and executed a “newscast recap” for the WCIA 3 Facebook page. Having a great passion for journalism since the age of 8 years she joined the Champaign newsroom after a stint in the State Capitol bureau in Springfield. Prior to joining the network, she was tenured at WJET-TV as a News Reporter in the Erie, Pennsylvania area for more than seven years.
She began her career as a Social Media Marketing Intern on WPVI-TV in the Greater Philadelphia area. There she was tenured for a period of four months. She was made responsible for editing, shooting, and producing videos for multimedia platforms. Additionally, she also served as Brand Representative in Justice for more than three years. She was also tenured in Edinboro at Edinboro TV as an Assignment Editor anchoring and reporting live and editing news scripts for three months.
Additionally, Kunz also served as an Assistant at Edinboro University for more than two years and also as a News Director for nine months. Further, Kunz was also tenured for four years as a co-host at a radio show on WFSE 88.9 Fighting Scots Radio. During college, Jessica participated in Edinboro’s student-run television station as a reporter, anchor, and producer. She also loves running, exploring Central Illinois, and reading.
