Additionally, he went to Southern Illinois University Carbondale where he later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Radio/Television.
Bret Behern’s Career
Beherns works for WCIA as a sports reporter, who joined the network as a weekend sports anchor. Later in December 2015, he was promoted to the network’s sports director. Being a Central Illinois native, he began his journalistic career in 2010 at WSIL–TV in Carterville, Illinois. There he served for more than three years before moving to WCIA.
He first began his job at the network as a sports intern serving for five months since August 2009. Later he was promoted to a sports reporter/anchor earlier January in 2010 where he served for three years and eight months. Before joining the network, he was tenured at WSIU-TV in August 2008 as the sports anchor/reporter. There he served for almost ten years leading the student sports department as director at a paid position throughout the university.
Previously he was tenured at WCIA in August 2007 as a sports intern for eight months. Before this, he tenured The News-Gazette in December 2004 as a sports stringer in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois Area. Having served for a year and four months, he was responsible on wrote game stories while still in high school throughout junior college.
