Kari developed her love for sports growing up in Arizona, where she played just about every sport imaginable. She later discovered her love for storytelling and followed her heart to Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism.

Most recently, she served as athletic director in Bakersfield, California, where she was nominated for an Emmy and received a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for reporting on a local athlete who made a triumphant comeback from a near miss. She also had the opportunity to speak to seven outstanding coaches and have an honest discussion about race and its impact on the neighborhood.

Before moving to Bakersfield, Kari was a sports reporter for WJAC at State College, where she covered a wide array of high school sports as well as minor league baseball and Penn State track and field. During that time, he covered the Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Big Ten Championships, and numerous NCAA tournaments.

Kari has pursued the subject throughout her career, beginning in central Pennsylvania, moving on to Central Valley, California, and now central Alabama. She realizes her journey has been shaped by a belief that sport has the powerful ability to bring us all together and that she looks forward to sharing the special sporting stories that make up her new community.
