Rasmussen is a 14x Emmy-winning Investigative Reporter currently working at KSTP since 2018. Eric’s goal is to uncover stories that are local, unique, and significant. He has been able to follow those stories around the world over the last 20 years. Therefore, Eric is also grateful that adventure has brought him back to the Twin Cities.
He came to the Twin Cities from Boston. Further, Eric has also worked as an investigative reporter in the San Francisco Bay Area and also in Orlando, Florida. He got his first full-time broadcasting job in TV news in Chico, CA at KHSL.
Eric remembers covering a story of a yearlong investigation that found missing foster kids kicked out of child welfare systems while they were still unaccounted for. Eric traveled to South Texas in 2019 and found the original birth records of a Minnesota Marine veteran. This was after his own government challenged his citizenship and rejected his application for a passport. Eric has successfully won multiple regional Murrow and Emmy awards, being “Outstanding Reporter” in the Upper Midwest in 2019. Additionally, he became an “Outstanding Investigative Reporter” in New England in 2018.
Eric is behind the turntables pursuing his other passion as a hip-hop DJ whenever off duty. He loved hip-hop music as a kid in the 80s and has collected hundreds of records since then. Eric’s hobby is his own reminder that you can’t always judge a book by its cover. He is also a baseball fan and a lucky dad.
