Before moving to Birmingham, Reid spent five years as a reporter for WAAY 31 ABC in Huntsville, Alabama, where he oversaw Sand Mountain’s offices in Guntersville, Albertville, Fort Payne, and Scottsboro. Before joining Huntsville, Tim stayed in Columbus, Georgia where he was a presenter for WRBL. He was also a reporter and reporter in Lafayette, Louisiana for KATC and a reporter for South Bend Indiana WSJV. Reid began his journalism career in 1995 at WHAG in Hagerstown, Maryland.
In 2005, while working in Louisiana, Reid was at Ground Zero in New Orleans covering Hurricane Katrina. Reid and the photographer spent several days at the airport and elsewhere in the city covering one of the world’s worst disasters and telling stories from the perspective of the many victims who survived the storm. While working in Georgia in 2007, Reid dealt with damage caused by an EF-3 tornado. The American city of Georgia was hit, parts of the hospital were destroyed, cars were thrown and more than 200 homes were damaged. Two people died in the storm. On April 27, 2011, Reid described a tornado that struck Sylvania Alabama, killing 35 residents who lived near the town of Fort Payne, Dekalb County. Hundreds of homes were destroyed and dozens were injured.
