McPherrin began his broadcasting career in Davenport, Iowa in 1977. In addition, he has also worked as a sports broadcaster in Quincy, Illinois, New Orleans, and Atlanta. He won an Emmy award in 1984 for his “Outstanding News Performance” in the state of Georgia.

Corey also worked at WABC-TV in New York for seven years as a sportscaster. Corey assisted ABC Sports as a college football play-by-play announcer and reporter for the sports anthology show, “Wide World of Sports.” McPherrin anchored at Fox Chicago News at Nine as the sports anchor. In addition, he also co-hosted the Bears pre-game show “Fox Kickoff Sunday,” as well as the Sunday night sports wrap-up show, “The Final Word.”

Corey joined WBBM-TV in 1991 as a sports anchor. He later teamed up with FOX 32 where he currently co-anchors FOX 32 News at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. He has won five Emmy awards during his 16 years at FOX 32 Chicago. Corey is a member of the school’s board of trustees at Butler University where he graduated.
