Tim McGill is an American multimedia meteorologist working at FOX32 News/WGN News as a Per Diem Meteorologist in Chicago since July 2021. Prior to joining the station, he worked at WBBM – CBS 2 Chicago for a year and a half. He has also worked in other stations including CLTV, WCTI, and WGN TV and radio.
In addition, he is also an instructor at Roosevelt University, where he teaches “Severe & Unusual Weather” class, and Columbia College Chicago, teaching “Meteorology: Forecasting Tomorrow’s Weather”. He is an Emmy Award-winning veteran journalist certified by the American Meteorology Society with over 28 years of experience.

McGill attended both the University of Illinois and Northern Illinois University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology in 1984. Two years after his graduation, Tim started off his career at WCTI TV 12 in 1986 where he covered sports and business segments in addition to his meteorologist roles.
In 1992, Tim joined CLTV News as the Chief Meteorologist and rose through the ranks to become the Weather Director. He worked at the station for 27 years, therefore, making CLTV the station where he got the bulk of his experience.
In addition, Tim also worked at WGN TV and radio as a meteorologist for 16 years from 2003 to 2019 and at WBBM – CBS 2 Chicago for a year and a half on a part-time basis as their Per Diem Meteorologist. Currently, McGill works at FOX 32 News as a Per Diem Meteorologist since July 2021.
He is also an instructor at Roosevelt University, where he teaches “Severe & Unusual Weather” class, and Columbia College Chicago, teaching “Meteorology: Forecasting Tomorrow’s Weather”. He also taught “Severe & Unusual Weather” and “Global Climate Change” courses for more than 12 years at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
