Therebefore joining KDKA, Sorensen was a reporter and anchor in Dallas, Texas. She received a Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award which was for reporting on Human Interest Stories for her Kidsburgh reports. Kristine also reported on children in “A Musical Christmas Carol” which was on a colorful crossing guard. Additionally, she covered on an autistic boy’s story who was able to speak with aid of a unique iPad speaking device. This story was viewed by over 2million people online. Other awards Sorensen won include an Edward R. Murrow and another award for hosting Pittsburgh Today Live which luckily won best news talk show.

Kristine is a  tennis player and enjoys reading, as well as gardening. She also enjoys Pittsburgh’s cultural institutions. Besides, dancing has always been a part of her since a tender age and has hence performed with dance companies for 10 years. She did a solo with the Bodiography Contemporary Ballet company at the Byham Theater in 2013. Sorensen actively volunteers in community activities.
